The third class of University Park Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy is forming now! This community-based, educational program is designed to provide University Park residents, who are at least 21 years old, with a working knowledge of the department, its personnel, and its policies.
Dates and details
Academy presentations will consist of 10 sessions held on Thursday nights from January 9 through March 13. All sessions will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at City Hall. To enhance learning and discussion, class size will be limited to 20 participants, and all class members will be expected to attend regularly.
Each Thursday you will receive classroom and “hands-on” instruction from officers or supervisors who work in the divisions being highlighted. Facility tours and the opportunity to “ride along” with a University Park police officer are also part of the program.
Our primary objective in offering the Academy program is to strengthen and expand our partnerships with the community. Working together, we can make University Park an even safer place to live and work.
If you are interested in participating, please either fill out an electronic application, or print the application and mail it to Chief Travis Vavra at 3800 University Blvd.
