Overview

Germany Park, located at 6401 Lomo Alto Drive, was previously known as "Park A". In 1974, the City annexed the parkland from Greenway Parks in Dallas. The park was dedicated and renamed in 1979, in honor of Mayor E Wilson Germany, who faithfully served the people of University Park from 1970 to 1976.

The park's rubberized track, named in honor of former Mayor John Roach, features facilities that are ideal for athletic conditioning. An outdoor fitness area, that also has a rubberized surface for user accessibility and safety, is located just north of the track. During the school year, the Highland Park varsity soccer team and track team work out at the park. Spring brings school-sponsored field and track meets and YMCA-sponsored field days. On the northeast corner of the park, at University and Lomo Alto, is a double tennis court complete with fiberglass practice backboards and lighting for evening play.

Track use: The innermost lanes of the track are designated for fast runners, the middle lanes are intended for slower runners or joggers, and the outer lanes are reserved for walkers and those cooling down. The track is not available for practice or event rentals.
