Community Calendar Guidelines
The Communications and Marketing Department also manages the City's website Community Calendar, which may be used to promote educational, social, cultural or recreational events in University Park open to the general public sponsored by community partners, including SMU, HPISD, the Moody Family YMCA and the Town of Highland Park.
The City considers Community Calendar event postings according to the following guidelines:
- All events must be open to the general public and community-oriented, no “invite only” events
- Examples of acceptable events include lectures, expos, health and wellness events, concerts, plays and performances, ribbon cuttings, grand openings, significant business/organization anniversaries, etc.
- Events must take place in University Park, on SMU campus, or on an HPISD campus
- Commercial events, church services, political events and fundraisers are not eligible for posting on the Community Calendar
- Event may not promote a commercial interest or commercial cause
The City reserves the right to include events on the calendar that may not fall under the specific guidelines listed, but that has an impact on traffic patterns.
