BACKGROUND
In 2009 the City received a $60,000 donation to the University Park Civic Foundation to award college scholarships to the children of City employees. This donation has been critical in helping numerous students pursue their degree paths.

To fund this program annually, a resident committee reviewed options for generating ongoing funds. The committee believed the most effective option was to add a voluntary 50¢ donation to each utility bill each month.

In September 2012, the University Park City Council approved a voluntary 50¢ addition to all monthly utility bills to fund the college scholarship program. This amount began appearing on monthly utility bills in December 2012.

OPT-OUT
If you wish to opt-out of the monthly 50 cent addition to your bill, please call the scholarship program opt-out voice mail box at 214-987-5688 or click here.  A utility billing specialist will promptly remove your account from the program and you will no longer see the charge on your bill.
