Attempted home invasion, stolen vehicle/vehicle burglaries

September 24, 2021

Residents have reported four separate incidents that all occurred on September 24 between 4:30 and 5 a.m.

3700 block of Centenary

In the 3700 block of Centenary, two suspects burglarized an unlocked vehicle and located keys that they used to try to gain entry to the house. That entry was unsuccessful. A still shot of the home’s front door camera shows two males, one of whom is Hispanic. One of the suspects is shown with a handgun in his right hand and what looks to be zips ties in his left hand. As the photo shows, the suspect with the handgun was wearing a black mask over his nose and mouth. He also has a distinctive haircut. The second suspect has his back to the camera, but is seen wearing light colored sweatpants and a hoodie.

3300 block of Marquette

A 2019 Black Escalade was stolen. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were left inside.  The vehicle was equipped with a tracking device and has been recovered in Dallas. UPPD is working closely with the Dallas Police Department on the investigation of this incident.

An unlocked vehicle was burglarized and two purses were taken. A door camera photo shows the potential suspect vehicle is a light-colored pickup truck.

An unlocked vehicle was burglarized.  Jewelry was taken.

Due to the close proximity of these incidents, UPPD believes they are related. These incidents underscore that residents should always lock their vehicles, take their keys or key fobs with them, remove all valuables from plain sight, and activate home and vehicle intrusion alarms. Police consider the first incident to be an intended home invasion robbery.

UPPD detectives will be working diligently to develop more leads in these cases in the days ahead, and officers will be watching the neighborhoods closely for these types of incidents while on patrol. Residents are encouraged to call 214-363-3000 if they have any information that would assist in the apprehension and prosecution of those involved. To assist residents in that process, photos of the suspects and a suspect vehicle are posted below.

In the days ahead, the City will post any new information about these cases on the website and on our various social media platforms.
