UP awarded AHA Silver Level Workplace Health Achievement Index

October 24, 2019

The City of University Park has achieved a 2019 Silver Level Workplace Health Achievement Index designation from the American Heart Association.

The City is one of 938 organizations the AHA commends for taking significant steps to build a culture of health in the workplace. The Index was developed by the AHA’s CEO Roundtable, a leadership collaborative of more than 40 CEOs from some of America’s largest companies who are committed to applying evidence-based approaches to improve their employees’ overall health.

The AHA has defined numerous best practices for employers to use. The Workplace Health Achievement Index measures the level of implementation of those standards. Of the organizations that completed the Index assessment, 27 percent received Gold recognition, 26 percent Silver and 29 percent Bronze.

“The City of University Park strives to create a culture of sustainable wellness for our employees. We are pleased to know that our efforts are being recognized," said Alicia Dorsey, the City’s Human Resources Director.

Achievement of the Index marks the conclusion of a comprehensive organizational self-assessment that measures both workplace and workforce health. Recognition of the award will take place at a future City Council Meeting.
