Purse Snatching suspect in custody

July 11, 2019

A man wanted for a purse snatching in University Park is in custody.  The incident occurred outside the Tom Thumb store in Snider Plaza on June 24.

A 74-year-old woman was loading groceries into her car about 2 p.m. when a man wrestled the purse from her.  Despite suffering injuries to her arms and neck, the victim was able to give police a description of the suspect and the truck he fled in.  Another person saw the incident, and was able to get the truck’s license plate number.  UPPD quickly distributed that plate number and security camera video of the incident to area law enforcement.

On July 10, the Dallas Police Department notified UPPD that 42-year-old Shondrick Chambers had been arrested following aggravated robberies in Dallas.  Chambers is now in the Dallas County Jail on UPPD and DPD charges. Bond for the incident in University Park was set at $50,000.
