City Council approves Miracle Mile concept design

August 7, 2019

Miracle Mile, the stretch of Lovers Lane between Douglas Avenue to Lomo Alto provides University Park with great shops, services, and restaurants.  Through a funding partnership with Dallas County, the City now has the opportunity to address long overdue infrastructure concerns centered on traffic flow, parking issues and pedestrian movement.  Working collaboratively, these public improvements could be realized with the County providing up to 50% of potential funding.

On Tuesday, August 6, the City Council approved a revised concept design for improvements along Miracle Mile. Staff will soon begin working on the paperwork needed to receive funding assistance from Dallas County’s Call for Projects. Staff plans to submit the proposal by the end of September.

During the same meeting, Council also approved the purchase of property located on the northeast corner of Lovers Lane and Douglas Ave. This property would allow for the reconfiguration of the Douglas/Lover Lane intersection, benefiting traffic movement.  If the City is able to finalize the purchase of this property, the submitted concept drawing will be modified to reflect the reconfiguration.
