Aggravated robbery at CVS on Mockingbird

November 12, 2019

Update - Tuesday, November 12

Interest regarding the conditions of Ms. Hollins and her baby remains high.  UPPD Detectives visited with her yesterday and say that she continues to improve, but still needs assistance to walk.  Her baby boy also continues to improve.

The University Park Police Department is working with law enforcement partners on both the local and federal levels to identify the suspect.  Tips are still coming in.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact UPPD directly.  People can also forward information anonymously through the website solveacrime.com

CVS is continuing to offer a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the successful apprehension or conviction of the suspect.  Friends and family have set up a Go Fund Me page for Ms Hollins.

Background Information and Other Posts

About 6:25 a.m. Saturday, November  2, UPPD responded to a report of shots fired inside the CVS store in the 3000 block of Mockingbird.  Minutes later, officers arrived on scene and found a female store employee with gunshot wounds. UPFD paramedics transported 29-year-old Orelia Sade Hollins, who was eight months pregnant, to Presbyterian Hospital.  She delivered a baby boy soon after arriving at the hospital.  Both she and the baby were listed in critical but stable condition.  A second CVS employee was the only other person in the store at the time of the shooting. That employee was not hurt.  No money was taken from the store, because the second employee couldn't get the cash drawer open.

The approximately six-foot male suspect was wearing a mask. He fled the store on foot moments after the incident.  Ms. Hollins told UPPD detectives, based on his eyes, and his tone of voice, the suspect is an African-American male.  She reports his voice is raspy like a “smokers” voice.  Ms. Hollins told detectives she does not know the suspect.

The video shows the suspect entering and exiting. The suspect was inside the store for approximately one minute.

Things to look for while viewing the video:

  • Suspect's gait while walking and/or running
  • Style of clothing
  • Anything else that comes to mind

In-store video is not being released because detectives believe that could compromise the investigation.
