Youth Advisory Commission helps Fairy Tale Closet

February 29, 2016

Fairy Tale Closet event

February 29 Update

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Fairy Tale Closet event!  We collected 175 prom dresses and lots of shoes and accessories.

Members of the City’s Youth Advisory Commission are assisting the Dallas Public Library System by collecting prom dresses, shoes and other accessories.  The effort, called Fairy Tale Closet, distributes dresses to young women in low-income areas of Dallas who are not otherwise able to afford them.  (Photo Above:  More than 40 dresses donated prior to Saturday's event).

Collection site, day and time

Saturday, February 27 YAC members will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at University Park Public Library (8383 Preston Center Plaza, Suite 200) to receive new and gently-used formal wear.  The donation of gowns of all sizes and lengths, along with shoes and other accessories will be greatly appreciated.  Gowns should be clean and preferably on hangers.  If you have questions about how to donate dress and accessories, before February 27, please call the City at 214-987-5303.

Local Sponsors

The City and the Youth Advisory Commission have received and donated items and products from these local businesses:
