UP Public Library's Summer Reading program starts June 4.

There is still time to register for University Park Public Library’s summer program, UP With Reading! Specific program dates are listed below.  Except for June 4, all the programs take place at the library on Saturdays, beginning at 10:45 a.m. Each program features a special guest.  Toddlers to teens are encouraged to sign up. 

June 4                   Val Oliver/Whirled on a String - yoyo
June 11                 Brothers Gromm - puppets
June 18                 Willy Welch - music and stories
June 25                 Pipdillys - music and comedy
July 9                    David Cox - drummer
July 16                  James Wand - magician
July 23                  Clowning Around - make a balloon blob
July 30                  Marshall Mitchell - Cowboy music/Stories

Take a bite out of a book

This summer’s UP With Reading theme is “Take a Bite Out of a Book.”  Each registered participant will be given a shark token with their name on it that will be displayed in the library. 

Prizes will be awarded for 10, 20, 30 and 40 hours of reading.  Highlights are:
 
  • 10 hours of reading - A participation certificate
  • 30 hours of reading - In partnership with Highland Park Public Library, a book to donate to Reading Partners of North Texas
The HPISD school whose students collectively read the most hours will be awarded the Readers Cup trophy.  Hyer Elementary School is the current champion.  UP With Reading is funded by:
