New uniforms for Public Works crews

October 24, 2016
Public Works personnel change uniform colors

Kermit the Frog may be on to something.  “Sometimes it’s not easy being green.”  Over the past few years, Public Works staff began to notice that, more often than not, landscape company personnel in the Park Cities wear green and so do crews for several other service providers.

In hopes of making Public Works employees stand out from the rest, several months ago that workforce established a uniform committee.  After discussing visibility and safety concerns, durability and year-round comfort, and after feedback from colleagues, the group decided on navy pants and khaki shirts.  A budgeted item, outfitting the Public Works staff in new uniforms cost $23,500.  Public Works personnel will start wearing the new unifroms this month.  This is the first color change for that 69 member workforce since 1995.
