High Water Barricades - Street Closures

October 23, 2015
1 p.m. - There are currently no high-water barricades blocking City intersections.

High-Water Advisory:  Grounds are saturated from the steady series of storms that have rolled through the area the past few days.  Runoff will occur almost immediately.  Due to these conditions, residents are reminded of the dangers of driving into water that spills onto streets and intersections.

  • Strong currents exist even where the surface water is just inches deep.
  • It takes only two feet of water to carry a car away.  Six inches of swiftly moving water can sweep a person off his feet.
  • Parents should remind children about the dangers of playing in or near storm drains and the usually tranquil Turtle Creek.
