The City of University Park’s Community Development Department is committed to maintaining essential construction activities and complying with state and local orders, while keeping the community and workers as safe as possible. Inspectors will be at each jobsite daily and may manage any jobsite that the project manager fails to manage. Penalties may result in red tags, fines, stop work orders, indefinite work stoppage until the Order is lifted, or other official police action.

The documents linked above clarify the Order issued by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins on March 29, 2020.  All contractors must read the Rules and comply in order to continue working in the City of University Park.

Please note key requirements of the Order:

  •  -  A COVID-19 safety monitor must be on each site to take temperatures of workers and visitors and has the authority to enforce Order requirements. The safety monitor must be on site at all times workers are present.
  •  - Soap, water, and hand sanitizer must be present on the job site.
  •  - No more than one trade is allowed on site and must maintain social distancing requirements as much as safely   possible.
  •  - Gathering for meals and breaks is prohibited, as well as sharing water coolers.
  •

At this time, only new residential projects, most commercial projects, and critical replacement and repair work will be permitted and inspected. Any work on existing structures that is not required to maintain a dwelling in a habitable state in compliance with the minimum occupancy standards may not be issued a permit, such as pools, fences, landscaping, remodels, additions, flatwork, and similar. Inspections of occupied houses will only be performed on emergency repairs that include live gas and electricity connections.

Please contact Community Development at 214-987-5411 if you have questions.
