MISSION STATEMENT AND PURPOSE

The City of University Park strives to ensure fair, competitive access to governmental procurement by responsible vendors and to conduct business activities in such a manner as to foster public confidence in the integrity of the City of University Park.

The City's Purchasing Division is responsible for buying supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the delivery of municipal services, as well as for contracting some minor construction and professional or personal services. Major construction projects are handled through the City's Engineering Division.

Purchasing Division Receives Award

 

The City of University Park Purchasing Division earned the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award for 2016.

This award was established in 1995 by the National Purchasing Institute (NPI) to recognize the achievement of organizational excellence in public procurement.  The award is achieved by those organizations that demonstrate excellence in procurement by obtaining a high score on rating of standardized criteria.

The program is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of the procurement function.

The City of University Park is one of only 71 cities in the U.S. and one of 48 government agencies in Texas to receive the 2016 award.  The City has received the award for 16 consecutive years.
