A Dallas man, Mark Robert Disch, 53, was arrested July 21 in connection with the Prosperity Bank robbery. Disch also faces charges in four other bank robberies in Arlington, Lewisville, DeSoto, and Sulphur Springs during a one-month span (May 25 and June 27). He appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on July 22. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas says law enforcement partners were able to place Disch in the vicinity of each robbery through video surveillance and witness accounts.
Background
Shortly before 10 this morning (June 27) University Park 911 was informed of a bank robbery at Prosperity Bank at 7031 Snider Plaza.
When UPPD officers arrived three minutes later, bank personnel told them an older white male, with glasses and wearing a green hoodie, verbally demanded money from a teller. The suspect was also wearing a blue medical mask that covered a portion of his face. Although the suspect never showed a weapon, he kept one hand in a pocket and indicated that he was armed.
Moments after the demand for money, the suspect placed a yellow bag on the counter and placed the money he received in it. The suspect then left the bank on foot. He was last seen walking west on Westminster. Police canvassed the area, but the suspect was not found.
UPPD has notified the Dallas office of the FBI. The FBI will be in charge of the investigation.
