A permit is required for any signage in University Park. A completed permit application, along with two complete sets of plans and details for the proposed sign must be submitted prior to the issuance of a sign permit. Plans must be drawn to scale and show the front elevation of the building or lease space with the proposed sign, and sign construction details including sign colors. Chapter 3 of the University Park Code of Ordinances contains the City Sign Ordinance. The following signs are prohibited within the City:
- Banners
- Exposed neon signs
- Flags
- Hot or cold air balloons
- Pennants
- Temporary signs
Real Estate Signs
Limited to one, six square foot sign per property. Two hanging signs not to exceed 24 square inches are allowed. In addition, one "Open House" sign is allowed on the immediate property only. No signs are to be placed in the public right-of-way, on utility poles, or on other properties.
Construction Signs
No contractor signage is allowed in a residential district.
Garage Sale Signs
Limited to one, six square foot sign per property. No signs are to be placed in the public right-of-way, on utility poles, or on other properties.
