Snider Plaza tree lighting - Sunday, November 18
November 12, 2012

The 6th annual Snider Plaza tree lighting event is scheduled for Sunday, November 18 from 2 to 6 p.m.  The event will include live performances on the main stage, children’s activities and several vendors offering food and drinks. Children will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa Claus.  The tree lighting will take place at the end of the day’s activities.

North Texas Food Bank donations

Again this year, the event will partner with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). Attendees are encouraged to bring canned food items or frozen turkeys to the plaza. In the weeks ahead, the NTFB will provide the turkeys to those who are less fortunate so they can enjoy a holiday dinner.  A refrigerated truck will be on site to store perishable items.

Additional event parking

Additional parking will be available at the SMU Law School parking garage and along Lovers Lane just west of Dickens adjacent to Curtis Park and UP Elementary School.

Event sponsors

This year’s key sponsors include:  Legacy Texas Bank, the Snider Plaza Merchants Association, Park Cities People Newspaper, Sewell Automotive, the Rotary Club of Park Cities and the City of University Park.

If you have questions about the event, please contact the Park Department at 214-987-5488.

Elena's Children's Park tree lighting

For many years, residents from across the Park Cities have gathered at Elena’s Children’s Park to remember children who are no longer with us.  The gathering features short remarks and holiday carols.  Families and friends conclude the gathering with a tre lighting.

This year, the gathering will take place Tuesday, December 4 at 6 p.m.  Elena’s Children’s Park is located at the intersection of Boedeker and Hanover.
